Lafie Norman Bennett

If I remember Chief Bennett correctly, there is now someone in heaven taking charge. Our prayers will be with all of his family as they honor his passing with pride and supplication.

I wish to extend my condolences to the Bennett Family and the Burns Family in the loss of a loved one. There is always a message from God Almighty when a loved one is taken. May that message be revealed in a wonderful way to strengthen you. God is good and gracious.

I never knew of the enormous contributions that Lafie made to fellow citizens until I read his families tribute to him.

He truly exemplifies the spirit of our great country-self dedication to others, but in his case, special gifts of courage, which are obvious, based on his survival during the many hostile encounters in the Pacific during World War II, (some of which were recognized back then by our grateful nation) such as the Purple Heart Medal.

They tell us that on the one hand he was personally aware those talents existed because they were forged in a battlefield situation, yet on the other hand he obviously developed an appreciation of them, and recognized that his survival was made possible at a cost, the cost of his fallen comrades.

Lafie's appreciation of his talents are exemplified by his dedication of service to others which are obvious in the following family tribute, - they demand restating.

In appreciation,

Nancy, I know there's nothing I can say to help the Bennett family feel any better for their loss. I can but offer my sincere condolences to our ole friends and school mates. I know he will be missed by many.

Hi Bev and your mom,

My sincere condolences. My first thoughts were that your dad is in heaven with his daughter Barb( remembered my best friend too). Sorry I could not attend, I recently lost my mom (10 weeks) so it is a lot of memories that prevent me to go to a funeral. Take care.

To: Bev, Teri, Tommy, & Mom Laura,

My deepest sympathy to your family. Losing a family loved one is very difficult. As long as you have the faith, Lafie is is very good hands. Just remember the wonderful memories and cherish it. I was unable to attend the funeral, but my prayers were with your family the moment Beverly contacted me. Here's a hug to each of you.........
